The Ningaloo Reef is home to a vast diversity of species, ranging from our famous whale sharks down to small colourful nudibranchs.
As with most wildlife, the breeding and migration patterns of particular species follow the seasons and are influenced by the surrounding oceans currents and temperatures. While the seasonal patterns may vary slightly, the marine calendar below gives a good indication of which species are present on the Ningaloo Reef during which calendar months to help you plan your visit.
Important: While past migration and breeding movements are indicative of future patterns, there is no guarantee each season will adhere strictly to this timetable.
